Galeria Claudia Andujar was inaugurated in 2015, with a project signed by Arquitetos Associados. The space gathers more than 400 works by the Swiss photographer based in Brazil who, from 1950 to 2010, made records of the Yanomami, one of the indigenous peoples who live in the northern Amazon Forest. The exhibition is split into three modules – A Terra [The Land]; O Homem [The Man]; and O Conflito [The Conflict]. In 2019, the space also received the installation Yano-a, made by the artist in collaboration with the duo Gisela Motta and Leandro Lima, taking one of Andujar’s photographs from the 1970s as the point of departure. By the time of its opening and in reference to the structure’s brick facade, the Yanomami named the gallery Maxita Yano (the house of the earth).
